Fast tracking European brands in to the Chinese market

Samarkand needed a new business identity representative of their expertise and high tech approach to entering European brands into the world’s largest but most complex eCommerce market, China.

Project Info

A logo inspired by the old silk road that connected the Eastern and Western worlds for over 1,500 years, with Samarkand seen as the gateway to Central Asia. We built built an identity inspired by these old trade routes. Parallel lines, dots and dashes forming the ‘S’ in Samarkand give the sense of providing pace to market as well as representing these old trade routes in a digital high-tech kind of way.

A vibrant and distinct colour palette, with the main focus on hits of vibrant purple, were key in representing the modern Asian market and creating a modern cutting edge look and feel.
